James Best
Currently working as an Art Director for The New York Times, James renders a contemporary urban experience in color and design with his images. Children, teens, and several self portraits has been the subject matter for James study and depiction.
He also incorporates Christianity into his works. See “One Way”, which is a rendering of an unknown girl standing in an unfamiliar place next to a one way sign holding a Bible in her right hand. This depiction of focus and faith is capture in the young girls eyes revels the artist witness and comment to his God. James use of color is sometimes bold and graphic using bold dark borders around flat tones on museum board.
